Ben has been honing his skills in the fine-dining kitchens of restaurants since graduating from the Culinary Institute of America in New York in 2001. Attracted to the proximity to local farms and purveyors, Ben has been cooking in Lancaster County for years, holding chef positions at Penn Square Grille at the Lancaster Downtown Marriott and Convention Center and the DoubleTree Resort by Hilton.
He began his culinary career over 17 years ago at Nantucket’s American Seasons and Philadelphia’s famed Le Bec Fin before relocating closer to his Chester County upbringing. Ben was drawn to the “food-forward brewery culture” of Iron Hill’s Lancaster location in 2017 and now leads the kitchen as head chef at Hershey.
Ben is the creative force behind daily specials, beer dinners and special events menus. On a daily basis, he prepares innovative dishes that pair perfectly with Iron Hill’s craft beer offerings. When he’s not in the kitchen, Ben is likely outdoors trail-running, hiking with his dog or foraging for wild mushrooms – maybe for a special Iron Hill dish!
