Chestnut Hills First Black IPA

Hi, my name is Derek, you may have seen me scrubbing tanks and cleaning up the daily mess we make here in the brewery. I have been Paul’s assistant here since the construction of the brewery in December and recieved the chance to make my first seasonal a couple weeks back. One of my favorite styles of beers is Black IPAs. It was a no brainer the beer i wanted to brew.

Paul and I received a small package from one of our grain dealers. It had two samples of their new black malts.. both which were ironically perfect for Black IPAs. We ordered a bag of the Midnight Wheat malt and started to formulate a recipe. I wanted a touch of Munich Malt flavor in the IPA as well as the delicious American hops that everyone here in Chestnut Hill has seemed to love. The beer is loaded with Columbus, Cascade and Centennial and dry hopped with Amarillo and Chinook.

The release of our Black IPA will be Thursday April 5th at 5:00 PM. Hope to see you there.

Cheers

Derek.
